tropical turtle cake

I made this for my best friends birthday this year. We share the same birthday and I wanted to do something special since we've been friends since 2nd grade. I never made her a cake before so I decided to surprise her with one. She loves anything tropical. And since this was my third fondant cake, I was testing out different techniques, like figures, painting and adding sand. The shape is a little odd, but it kinda looks like a globe. I loved painting the water, but next time I'll use vodka instead of water so that It'll dry faster.

baby shower

This was a Modern Asian themed Suprise Baby Shower My mom and I decorated last minute. The baby was due that same week so we weren't sure if the bbq turned last minute baby shower was still gonna happen. So we decided to modernize it so it can go either way. We would just need to take away the diaper cake, sign, and baby games.. and whos the wiser ;P You can do alot in a week with a small budget and some creativity :)

The Awesome Diaper Cake! Made by: my mom

Guess candy the baby ate game.. also known as the POOP game! Answers were hidden in the flag. :)

This was the 2nd time I ever tried making a fondant cake. It was sooo hard to keep the white fondant clean w/ the red velvet cake inside.... white and red do not mix well... I also added the wax flowers on top to hide my little mistakes.

I made some last minute paper lanterns to hang on the bamboo tree.

tres leches cupcake

I made these for my boyfriends birthday this year. He wanted a tres leches. So i decided to make him some cupcakes so its easy to share. It was my first time trying to make these. They came out ok but I think I'm going to take another shot at them so I can make them PERFECT for him later.

chocolate hazelnut w/ caramel cupcake

By popular demand... made these cupcakes for my cousins. They always seem to get a bigger Sweet Tooth whenever I'm back in town. These mini chocolate cupcakes are filled with oozy, goozy, sweet caramel and a solid hazelnut center. I topped it off with my favorite cream cheese frosting dyed a light pink. And sprinkled with Ghirardelli dark and eggnog white chocolate. So small, big punch!

spaghetti bridge

Im in Architecture School and one of our warm up projects last year was a Spaghetti Bridge. The Rules: only white glue, only spaghetti noodles. must span 18" long.

Build them and Break them!

mine held about 5 pounds of weight until it broke :(

triple strawberry shortcake

This is something I made awhile back. One late night sweet tooth. Its a Triple Strawberry Shortcake. Strawberry cake, with vanilla whipped cream, fresh strawberries and topped with strawberry syrup!

bear cookies and lizard strawberries

Can you spot my first bear/piggy? :)

She made these cute bear cookies with her sons that just had to make... I made these for my godsons first birthday party.

I made some homemade peanut butter cookie dough. I carved their smiles with a knife and used jibbies for their eyes and cut a chocolate chip for their nose. Then stuck the cereal ears on. Each one came out a little different from the next, which give it a little more character.

I also made these lizard strawberries. I sliced out a slither of the strawberry to make a opening for their mouth. Then carved holes for their blueberry eyes. Dabbed a little frosting inside the hole and placed the blueberries on top. Its just another easy way to get the little ones to eat some more fruit!

skeleton cookies

This is my version of skeleton cookies... I made for Halloween this year. (The semi-homemade way :) I used Pepperidge Farm Ginger Bread cookies and vanilla frosting. These were a big hit! And if you let them sit overnight the frosting make them soft so they seem more homemade. HARD OR SOFT ITS DELISH!

organizing headbands

I came up with this idea by default by just having this item around the house. I got this candle holder from Pier One a couple years back. And my initial intent for it was a fish tank for 2 fighting fish so that I would have a small tank that was modern and cheap that didnt take alot of room. I purchased this on sale for about $15. My fish lasted about a year then died. Anyway now its back halfway to its original use a candle holder/headband accessory holder. I love it! it neatly stores everything, while making everything easy to use and see. I put the headbands around the vase and the other smaller hair ties , bow ties, and other accessories are just thrown inside the vase. I like things organized but I don't like taking the time to keep it organized as I use it. This gives me a way to use toss them in and throw them around the vase, while keeping them neat. The other side I just filled with sand and added a tea light.
